Located just off of Interstate 90 in a remote area between West Salem and Medary Junction, this through girder bridge crosses Bostwick Creek.
Built in 1914, the bridge consists of a single through girder span, set onto concrete substructures. While a plaque was removed, no date stamp could be found on the bridge.
The bridge features standard rounded edges seen along the Milwaukee Road, as well as a ballasted deck.
This style bridge was commonly used to cross creeks, rivers and roads due to the ease of construction and lack of required maintenance.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition, with no significant deterioration noted.
The author has ranked the bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
The photo above is an overview. In addition to this bridge, there is a former Chicago & North Western bridge immediately to the south.
